Growth funds have investments primarily in equity. Equity is known to be riskier asset then fixed income. With high risk/volatility expected returns are also high

Balanced funds are made up of equity and fixed income bonds. The risk/volatility of balanced funds is less than that of growth funds.

Money market funds primarily invest in fixed income bonds. The volatility or risk of such fund is the lowest.

Hence on the graph, the top right box is Growth funds as it has high volatility and high risk.The box in the middle is that of balanced fund. The bottom left box is that of money market funds.
