Identify a process and state why it is very important to provide and follow the proper steps to carry out the process. What could happen if the process isn't carried out properly? What are some warnings involved in the process? As an example, think about medications and/or antibiotics that all of us have probably used at one time or another, after being diagosed with a cold or illness. When we pick up medicine from the local pharmacy, directions are stapled to the package that contain detailed instruction or a process of how to properly take the medication. Imagine what could happen if the instructions were not carried out properly. Serious consequences can result from such an action. Medications have warnings, such as "Do not operate machinary while using this medicine; Do not ingest alcohol; Do not take this medication on an empty stomach" and so on and so forth.  As you respond to this Discussion, think about the steps involved in the process that you have identified, as well as the warnings and consequences if the steps that you have identified in your process are not carried out properly. Do not identify simple, elementary processes, like brushing teeth or tying a shoe, etc. or credit will not be given. Think about the process that you identify carefully and be sure that you have carried out the process, thus making you very familiar with it. Your post is should not be more than 150 words.

Sleeping process

Sleeping is an essential process which involves 4stages _ 3Non Rapid Eye Movement (NREM) and 1 Rapid Eye Movement (REM) stages. Normal cycle lasts about 90 to 110 minutes comprising 4 to 5 cycles per sleep.

Steps involved:

NREM sleep_

Stage 1. Lightest stage, characterized by drowsiness, easily disruptable, brain activity slows down, may experience hypnic jerks.

Stage 2. Still deeper sleep, eyeball movement stops, heart rate, and breathing slows down, body temperature decreases, brain activity slows down with k-complex waves (as per EEG reading) making sleep deeper.

Stage 3. Deepest stage of sleep, very very difficult to wake, brain activity shows Delta waves or slow waves, Parasomnias ( like sleep walking/talking, night terrors) occur in this stage.

REM sleep. Also known as dreaming stage, Eye Movements are Rapid, more active brain waves, sleep easily disrupted.

Sleep is important because it recharges our brain making it ready to carryout further activities efficiently. So it requires enough time nearly 7 to 8 hours per day.

If the sleep.process isn't carried out properly, it may lead to

● disturbed cognition

● confusion

● drowsiness

●headache

● vomiting

● increased Blood pressure

● irritation

● sleep disorders

It may be even fatal if not slept for days together.

For example , when a sleeping pill is prescribed, the sleeping process is to be carried out on time. If not, it may lead to drowsiness, fatigue, irritability, confusion, head ache and even small to major accidents.

Provide adequate times to carry out the process. Do not drive or operate machines while on sleeping pills.
