1.The plan of care in this patient are

  • To treat the underlying cause (infection ) to ease the symptoms of wheezing An antibiotic is necessary to fight this infection.
  • An inspiratory and expiratory wheeze is an alerting sign to be assessed for initiating necessary treatment.
  • The patient has to be given oxygen to maintain oxygen saturation
  • Provide nebulization to loosen the thick secretion and spit out and breathe easily
  • Provide steam inhalation ,to thin out secretion and to provide moisteness
  • Provide a high fowlers position to increase lung capacity

2.The following education are needed

  • Take antibiotic as prescribed, do not stop on own, to treat infection
  • Teach breathing exercise like purse lip exercise which can prevent expiratory wheeze and it symptoms
  • Encourage to continue nebulization and steam in home, this can make patient breath easily and prevent secretions
  • Encourage to monitor oxygen saturation
  • Report immediately in case of any adverse reactions, breathing difficulties, wheezing,fever.Early medical help can prevent complications
