Answer #1

3.

Palytoxin :

  • No. of Stereogenic centers in Palytoxin is 64 ( A Stereogenic center is a chiral center in which a carbon is attached to 4-different groups : Double bonds not counted).
  • No. of possible stereo-isomers is   264 = 1.844674407*1019 (A molecule
with 'n' chiral centers, the maximum number of stereoisomers possible is 2n

: Double bonds not counted ).

  • No. of possible enantiomers is =2n−1 = 263 -  = 9.223372037*1018 (A molecule
with 'n' chiral centers, the maximum number of enantiomer possible is 2n−1   and no. of enantiomer pairs = 2n−1/2 = 2n−2 =262  )
  • No. of possible diastereomers is =  2n -2n =    264 -2 .
