Answer #1

Solution a:

total prime costs for the month of May = Direct materials + Direct labor

= ($17,200 + $83,800 - $15,100) + $59,800

= $145,700

Solution b:

Conversion costs for the month of May = Direct labor + Manufacturing overhead

= $59,800 + $79,100 = $138,900

Solution c:

Total manufacturing costs for the month of May = Direct materials + Direct labor + Manufacturing overhead

($17,200 + $83,800 - $15,100) + $59,800 + $79,100 = $224,800

Solution d:

cost of goods manufactured for the month of May = Total manufacturing costs + Beginning WIP - Ending WIP

= $224,800 + $8,300 - $6,600 = $226,500

Solution e:

Cost of goods sold for the month of May = Beginning finished goods inventory + cost of goods manufactured - Ending finished goods inventory

= $53,300 + $226,500 - $71,600 = $208,200
