Given that, sample size ( n ) = 50

sample mean (ar x) = 0.987 gallon

population standard deviation (sigma) = 0.01galllon

confidence level = 99% That is c = 0.99

Using TI-84 calculator we get, 99% confidence interval estimate of the poulation mean (mu) amount of paint included in a 1-gallon can is (0.98336, 0.99064)

0.98336 < μ < 0.99064
