* Diabetic ketoacidosis is a complication of diabetes mellitus.

* In patient with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus blood glucose level increases

   higher than normal (Hyperglycemia).

* But body cells become lack of enough glucose to meet the energy requirement

   for normal functioning.

* So,body uses fat as a energy source by breakdown of fat into fatty acids.

* Ketone bodies are producing as a byproduct along with fattyacids.

* Ketone bodies are acids,so it results in accumulation of acids in the body or acidosis.

* This type acidosis occur in a patient due to diabetes mellitus is called diabetes

   ketoacidosis.

* If diabetic ketoacidosis left untreated it leads to diabetic coma and death.
