Physician assisted suicide or assisted suicide is an act of terminating one's own life to not suffer the physical or emotional pain due to a terminal illness.The patient who is a major with good sound of mind has the full autonomy or capability or capacity to decide on the treatment.As a healthcare professional after a thorough assessment the patients request has to be respected with dignity in the best interest of the patient. The principle of autonomy best fits a patient who is requesting for assisted suicide.
