A person has been injured in a bicycle crash in a remote area. You decide to help. The victim is conscious and appears to be cooperative but appears to have minor open wounds and possible injuries to the bones in his leg. Discuss how to perform an initial assessment/survey of the scene. What questions should you ask the victim during the interview? Is disease transmission a concern, explain your answer. Include what alternative supplies or actions may be required based on a first aid kit not being available and the remote location of the accident. Describe two rescue moves that would be appropriate for moving this victim (assume knee injury). Describe in detail how to perform each move and why you selected the move.
Bicycle crash can lead to problem too.
1) the assessment which needs to be performed is do not move the person or pull him up. Just observe the person for wounds and aberrations. Slowly move the head to observe for pain or any complaints. Ask the person to breath deeply to see for breathing difficulty , if there is bleeding apply gentle pressure and elevate the part.
2) question that I needed to be asked is , when did he fall, does he have any bleeding disorders or any other health problem. Does he have any communicable disease. Did he fall on any fluids such as sputum etc. Enquire about the pain areas.
3) as the person had bicycle crash in remote area it is very big concern for communicable disease. Cleanliness is a big question mark in remote areas . There are more chances for fluids such as sputum, urine to be on the ground. So we must make sure the surrounding where he had a crash must be clean.
