Burnout is characterized by emotional exhaustion , depersonalization and a decreased sense of accomplishment. It's the responsibility of physicians ,health care organisations to prevent burnout in the field where they work .
Physicians must be guided from the earliest years of training to learn methods of personal renewal, emotional self awareness , connection with social support system ,and a sense of mastery and meaning in their work . Maintaining these values are important aspects in the field of work and also plays a vital role in life of every individual.
It is not incidental to be medicine but is at the core of the deepest values of every profession to first do no harm which is one of the ethical rights called non maleficence. Doing no harm begins with one's self.
