Incident rate, or in this case mortality rate, is the number of deaths between a period of January 1 1960 to December 31 1969, due to any particular cause.

I) for CVD - Number of deaths due to CVD in the period = 3

Population of the area = 20

So Incident rate = (3/20)* 100 = 15%

II) For CA: Number of deaths in the period due to Ca= 2; Population of the area= 20.

So Incident rate = (2/20) * 100 = 10%

III) For accident: No of deaths due to accident in the time period = 1; Population of the area = 20.

So Incident rate = (1/20)*100 = 5%

IV) For all causes: Total number of deaths due to CVD, Ca, and accidents = 3+2+1 = 6 ; Population of the area = 20.

So Incident rate= (6/20)*100 = 30%.
