Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
The reasons for this condition is not clearly known but there is speculation that it may be caused by the defects of portion of brain which controls arousal and breathing during sleep.Sleeping positions,birth defects, respiratory infections are considered as the factors for death of the infant.
SIDS is the unexpected death of the healthy baby who are not over the age of 1 year.It is also known as crib death.
Recommendations to minimise the risk of SIDS.
Sleeping position:The baby should be placed on their back when they are sleeping.
They should not sleep with parents,siblings or pets.Shouod have seperate bed.
Should have normal room temperature without over heat.
