Mr. Sanchez comes to the desk to check out after seeing the physician. When Brenda tells him that his bill is $95, he complains that he only saw the physician for 10 minutes. The fee is in accordance with evaluation and management guidelines. Explain the fees to Mr. Sanchez. Consider the following questions when writing your paper. Would you attempt to explain the fees to an upset patient at the checkout window? Would you take the patient into a more private area to discuss their concerns? Would you involve your manager? What does the patient really need to know about billing charges? What guidelines should you share? What should you not share? How can you dispel the anger a patient may feel?

Answer #1

Health workers duty is to serve their patients . In this case, the concern is the amount of the bill charged against Mr. Sanchez. He wants to know whether the bill is made in accordance to the hospitals management guidelines or not . To explain him first of all what the healthcare billing people should do is to make him comfortably sorted. Give him a glass of water to drink . Let him relax and then ask him about the concerns he have . It might be sometimes due to the stress and pressure sometimes patients or their caregivers get over anger. After listening to him ,explain the bill to him point by point and provide him the charge sheet for verification only those which are allowed to be shared with the consumers and even then the patient is not satisfied then the manager would be called to explain and manage the situation .
