Answer #1

a) An ether solvent is generally diethyl ether which is almost a nonpolar organic solvent. It favour the formation of a free radical more than formation of ions.

b) The general formula of peroxide is R2O2 where R may a hydrogen or alkyl group or alkanoyl group like C6H5CO.

C) It is the chemistry of regioselective reaction. A reaction in which formation of one structural isomer is favored over all other products is known as regioselective reaction. For example propene upon reaction with HBr in absence of a peroxide gives 2-bromo propene as the major product and 1-bromopropene as minor product.

d) Polarity refers to separation of two opposite charges by a certain distance. A molecule is said to be polar if it has opposite charge poles. A polar solvent contain polar molecule. Polarity in a molecule develops due to difference in electronegativity between atoms in a molecule provided molecule is not symmetrical. Water is classical example of polar solvent.

e) Stability of simple alkene is decided by hyperconjugation. Greater is number of hyperconjugation interactions, Greater is stability.

Only need help with 5,6,7 and mechanism FTIR and NMR Spectra After completing a reaction and working up the products, it is still necessary to confirm that the correct product was formed. The most common tools used for this analysis are Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. In the virtual laboratory, 'H and C NMR spectra are available. Details on interpreting FTIR and NMR spectra are found in your textbook. Your instructor may or may not...
