Drinking too much water increases the load on the kidney and also the sodium content of the blood gets diluted to develop the condition hyponatremia (can lead to life-threatening conditions). Drinking too much water than the kidney can remove, creates an overhydration state that can decrease the salt and other electrolyte levels in body. The recommended daily water intake should not be more than 78–100 ounces (9­–13 cups) per day.
