Monroe doctrine is associated with president Monroe of the USA. Under this doctrine, the intention of European powers to subjugate the countries of the Western Hemisphere was challenged.
Any attempt to colonize the Western Hemisphere would be considered hostile to the USA. Thus, it was the foremost example of USA nationalism. It was the voice against the colonizing powers. it also reduced the potential threat to the existence of the USA. By forming such a doctrine, the threat to USA integrity was reduced considerably.
