Conditional Events - Coins & Jars
Suppose there are two jars, A and B. Jar A contains 4 red and 3 blue balls. Jar B contains 2 red and 5 blue balls.
Flip a coin twice and select Jar A on 2 heads. Otherwise select Jar B. Next, draw [randomly] one ball from the selected jar.

What is the probability of getting a red ballqmark.gif

Given a red ball was selected, what is the probability that it came from Jar Aqmark.gif

P(HH and Red) (1/414/7)-4/28 P(HH and Blue) (1/4)(3/7) 3/28 P(HH) 1/4 P(HH) 3/4 P(FIH and Red) (3/4)(2/7) 6/28 P(HH and Blue) (3/4)(5/7)- 15/28 and Blue)

An urn contains N balls each labeled with a unique number 1, 2, ..., N. M of these balls are colored yellow and the remaining N-M are blue, 0<=M<=N. These facts represent our state of knowledge, or information A. Yi yellow ball on ith draw and Bi blue ball on ith draw. For the ith draw it must be that p[Yi | A] + p[Bi | A] = 1.
