When the earning is $156,141 and Ramone will be filing as married filing jointly, then under a progressive tax program, the total taxes that Ramone owes =

(16700-0) * 0.1 + (67900-16700)*0.15 + (137,050 - 67,900) * 0.25 + (156,141 - 137,050)*0.28

= $1670 + $7680 + $17287.50 + $5345.48

= $31.982.98.

Under the proportional flat tax rate of 30%, Ramone will owe 0.3*156,141 = $46842.3
