During an assessment of a dark-skinned client with COPD, the nurse looking for Grayish-blue tone in the mucous membranes and nail beds if assessing for cyanosis.

It's because it's very difficult to assess cyanosis in dark-colored person due to skin color but you can assess cyanosis discoloration in mucus membranes and nail beds because these 2 are not affected by dark color.
