Upon completing a substance abuse history, he shares that he has been smoking for the past year. He read on the Internet that nicotine is a natural substance from the nightshade family and that there are not as many harmful effects as the media lets on. 1.People who smoke can become addicted to it.This is because of the nicotine content in it.This nicotine content stimulate the brain to urge to use it again and again.This happens because when nicotine effect reaches the brain it releases endorphins which can lead to a state of happiness and making the smokers to have the effect continuously by smoking.

2.Cigarettes can be harmful in anyform ,in anyway it is consumed.Though it is made from the natural substance like tobacco ,this tobacco contains harmful chemical mixtures. One among them is the addictive chemical nicotine. Apart from this nearly 70 chemicals found in cigarettes are carcinogenic and definitely causes some sort of health ailments.

3.There are treatment available for quitting smoking

  • Te smoker should have a strong desire to quit it first
  • Use of nicotine capsules orally in form of tablets or chewgums when the person wants to smoke
  • Use of nicotine patch (applied on the skin which releases medicine slowly and decrease the cravings.These types of patches has to be changed once in 24 hours)
  • The other forms which are available are lozenges,inhalators.
