Answer #1

1) Refluxing provide constant supply of heat at constant temperature. Simply boiling the mixture result in non-uniform heating and result in solvent loss whereas in Refluxing solvent get condense in condenser.

2) For SN2 reaction, rate = K[X][Y]

a) On doubling concentration of Y, rate become doubled.

b) When concentration of X is tripled and that of B is doubled then rate become 6 times.

c) Reaction rate increases on increasing temperature because more molecules have activation energy needed to undergo reaction.

Experiment 14 SN2: Synthesis of 1-Bromobutane Alkyl halides can be prepared from their corresponding alcohols via an acid catalyzed substitution reaction. The mechanism of these acid catalyzed substitution reactions are labeled as SNI (substitution, nucleophilie, unimolecular) and S2 (substitution, nucleophilie, bimolecular). Tertiary alcohols follow the Syl route, primary alcohols follow the S2, route and secondary alcohols can follow either path. Sth CyHe 81 CH? Please give detailed answers to the pre and post lab questions. Thank you! NUCLEOPHILIC DISPLACEMENT- FORMATION OF AN ETHER BY AN SN2 REACTION Bond formation by use of an SN2 reaction is very important for organic and biological synthesis. Many new bonds formed make use of this versatile reaction pathway. In this reaction, one partner is the nucleophile and the other partner is the electrophile. The electrophile will have a leaving group that will be lost in the reaction. In...
