Answer #1

Order dose - 40 meq of potassium chloride in 100 ml of D5W to be administered over 4 hours.

100ml = 4hours = 25ml/hr

Drip set 10 drops/ml

Then

40 meq of potassium chloride in 100 ml of D5W

0.4 meq in 1 ml. (40 meq\div100ml = 0.4meq/ml)

then

10 drops contain 0.4 meq

0.4meq - 10drops = 0.04meq

1 drop contains 0.04 meq

Answer - 0.04 meq of potassium will be in each group.
