Answer #1

ANSWER.

37) Calculation of weight of the patient in kg.

Weight of the patient lbs = 240 lbs.

      Convert lbs to kg

             1 lbs = 0.454 kg.

Weight of the patient in kg = 240 * 0.454

                                            = 108.9

                                            = 109 kg.

38) mg of Dilantin required for this patient.

      Ordered dose = 5 mg/kg.

Weight of the patient = 109 kg.

mg of drug required for this patient = 5 * 109

                                                                = 545 mg.

39) Calculation of ml of drug required.

         Volume(ml) = Desired dose(D)/Dose in hand(H) * Quantity(Q)

     Here

         Desired dose(D) = 545 mg.

        Dose in hand(H) = 25 mg.

               Quantity(Q) = 1 ml.

As per above formula

        Volume(ml) of drug required = D/H * Q

                                                     = 545/25 * 1

                                                     = 21.8 * 1

                                                     = 21.8

                                                     = 22 ml.
