Amebiasis is a colon infection caused by a parasite (amoeba Entamoeba histolytica), it is otherwise known as amoebic dysentery. It is characterized by severe loose and bloody stools, fever, abdominal cramping, and intestinal pain. Amebiasis is mostly seen in tropical areas.
