What are the key elements of management for this patient?
Management of shortness of breath, productive cough, yellow
sputum, ankle swelling, and occasional bronchitis include
-make the patient in an upright sitting position
-administer oxygen at 24 to 28% through venturi mask
-Provide nebulizer to loosen the secretion
-administer bronchodilators, corticosteroids, antibiotics to widen
the airway and avoid infection and inflammation.
-encourage deep breathing and coughing exercise
-advice the use of spirometry to increase the airway space
-Monitor patient spo2 and ABG level
-Elevate the patient foot end and wear supportive socks to increase
circulation.
-administer diuretics to reduce the swelling by eliminating
unnecessary fluids
-Sent the septum for C& S
-Monitor the patient Intake and output
