1. A nurse aide’s main role is to provide basic care and assistance to patients or residents. They should respect individual’s rights and privacy while still giving the best care. Tasks can be a part of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs; for instance, residents may need aid using the restroom, eating, or assistance receiving oxygen. Other roles may include maintaining a comfortable environment for the individual or exercising the rights of a patient. Responsibilities should include communicating with the nurses, performing requested tasks proficiently, and reporting any mental or physical concerns associated with the patient. Nurse aide’s main objective should be to care for the patient safely while also satisfying their basic needs. In order to ensure the well-being of each patient, resident’s should never be neglected when requesting service or assistance. Nurse aide’s are responsible for their actions and should be competent to perform standard tasks with an honest and accurate mindset. When nurse aides need guidance, they should refer to the chain of command, which starts with a nurse and works its way up. Overall, nurse aide’s main priority should be to support the patient or resident in their desired choices while providing a high level of individualized care. With the trust of the residents, it will be easier to help support the individuals in their daily tasks. Another important job of a nurse aide is record keeping, documenting tasks can help the staff understand the needs of a resident and help identify health concerns.
