Answer #1

11a Hyponatraemia.

b 135-145mEq/L

c Clinical manifestations are

  • Irritability
  • Apprehension
  • Confusion
  • dizziness
  • personality changes.
  • tremors
  • seizures
  • coma
  • dry mucus membranes.
  • postural hypotension.
  • cold and clammy skin

d This patient might have a urine specific gravity less than 1.010.This is because during hyponatraemia.Losses of sodium -rich body fluids from the GI tract ,kidney or skin indirectly result in hyponatraemia.

e Fluid restriction is all that is needed to treat the problem.if severe symptoms develop ,small amounts of IV hypertonic saline solution are given to restore the normal serum sodium level while the body is returning to normal water balance..Treatment of hyponatraemia associated with abnormal fluid losses include fluid replacement with sodium-containing foods.
