Intravenous therapy is not used to administer blood gases.

There are some gases like oxygen and carbon dioxide is present in the blood by the gaseous exchange in lung we can measure it but we can not administer intravenously if their value drops.

Intravenous therapy uses a catheter that accesses to the blood circulation by which we can administer medication, fluid, some specially prepared nutrients, and blood but not gases.
