Answer #1

ANS. 19. To keep the meeting on track, Rachel should "send each member a set of meeting minutes" because it contains a written record of everything that should be done in the meeting and also important instructions like who is responsible for a particular work, consequences, protocols, etc. it makes things easier to handle.

  • The defensive communication table will threaten the group members and they will not be able to give their opinions.
  • Making all the decisions on her own will not make the session productive because of the lack of creativity of different people.
  • By following an agenda, group members will feel restrictive.

ANS. 20. Autocratic leadership style is best when "group members know are used to having decision-making control". In the autocratic leadership style, the leader doesn't consider the opinions of his/her group members. all the decisions are taken by the leader itself without the input of anyone.

  • when the group members are knowledgeable and experienced then it is important to include them in the discussion because they will add quality and productivity to the project.
  • when the group is relatively new then all of a sudden autocratic leadership style will make them restricted and frustrated.
  • when the group members know each other and work together effectively then democratic or any other leadership style other than autocractic will enhance the productivity of the organization.

ANS. 21. The first step in the structured problem-solving approach is to "know what the actual problem is" i.e. to define and analyze the problem. without knowing the actual problem, we cannot find the appropriate solution. sometimes, we do not figure about the problem and start making decisions and later on, we realize that we were going in wrong direction after investing so much effort and time.
