Answer:

Step:1 - Convert all the value to S.I unit

  • Feet to Metres
    • 1 foot = 0.3048
    • Therefore, 5 feet = 5 * 0.3048 = 1.52 metres------- (1)
  • Inches to Metres
    • 1 inch = 0.025 metres
    • therefore, 4 inchs = 4 * 0.025 = 0.1 metres----------(2)
  • The height of this patient in metres is = (1) + (2) = 1.52 + 0.1 = 1.62 metres
  • Pounds to Kilos
    • 1 pound - 0.45kg
    • therefore, 100 pounds = 0.45 * 100 = 45kg
  • The formula for Body Mass Index = Body weight (kgs)/ ( height in metre)2
  • BMI = 45 kgs / 1.62 metres *1.62 metres
    • = 45/ 2.62
    • 17.17 kg/m2

The BMI of this patient is 17.17 kg/m2
