Acute care hospital Vs facilities and programme for health

Acute care hospitals is defined as a short term hospitals, that has facilities, medical staff and all necessary personnel to provide diagnosis, care and treatment of wide range of acute condition including injuries. Acute care hospitals remain the focus of attention in spite of numerous facilities and programmes that have a greater effect on health.

As population grow and age, there will be increasing demand for acute curative functions responsive to life threatening emergencies, acute exacerbation of chronic illness and many routines health problems. People won't care about there health and they won't utilise any benefits of health programmes and facilities that Government provides, untill the sign of danger to their health occurs, them they will run to health care provider for acute care.

Desirable and undesirable effect of Acute care hospital

Acute service includes all promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative services. It treat tje life threatening injuries and infection, gives emergency treatment and performs the surgeries to protect a life. People run to it., mostly ignoring other health programmes and facilities.

In other side It may be difficult for an Acute care hospital to appropriately and accurately determine post acute care payments based on the diagnosis at admission. Number of insurance issues might be there. Other than this the acute care is costlier. Providing a fixed payment based on diagnosis creates an inherent financial incentive for acute care hospital to undeserve the most severely impaired patients.
