Pathophysiology of Cerebrovascular accident :-
- Etiological factors are of two types :-
Predisposing factors example -age , hereditary etc
Precipitating factors example - diseases like hypertension, cigarette smoking , cardiovascular disease , tumors etc leads to decreased blood flow , decreased nutrition and oxygen to the brain .
- These tumors or any obstruction blocks the blood supply to brain and increase in the ICP causing the vessels to burst and bleed in the subarachnoid space .
- leads to injury to the brain tissue or ischemia of brain cells due to decreased perfusion pressure.
# Actions to treat CVA should be done immediately because any block in the blood flow to the brain for more than 6mins leads to irreversible brain damage. Clots must be dissolved by administering tPA within 3hours of attack and with the use of thrombolytics. Mannitol has to be given to decrease the ICP.
Need help on this with a simple underdable explanation about cerebrovascular pathophysiology. I needed very soon...
