The nurse should ensure the following before administer MMR vaccine :

a. Yes, have to determine whether the child has allergies to gelatin. Because MMR vaccine contains gelatin substance.

c. The nurse have to be asked whether the child has received  blood or blood products in the past 6 months. This interval varies depend upon blood products received. If the blood received contains antibody means there should be interval of 11 months atleast for administer MMR vaccine.

d. One of the adverse effect of MMR vaccine is thrombocytopenia and unusual bleeding. So the parents to be instructed to contact the office if they notice unusual bleeding or bruising.

Note:

b. The adverse effects occurs within 24 hours of vaccine received.

e. There is no restriction of MMR vaccinated person should not contact with pregnant women. The close contact person of pregnant women get MMR vaccine.
