Answer: Respiratory acidosis is a condition when the lungs are unable to clear out the excess carbon dioxide that has been produce by the body. The increase in the carbon dioxide causes decrease in the pH of the blood as well the other fluids present in the body. This decrease in the pH makes the blood too acidic. It also effects the CNS as reduces the brain ability to perform normal function.

The symptoms of respiratory acidosis includes:

1. Anorexia
2. Drowsiness
3. Anxiety
4. Inability to breathe properly.

It is necessary to take immediate action as this condition can be fatal. The actions that should be taken as providing oxygen if there is insufficient oxygen or breathing problem. Bronchodilator medicines are the first choice of the drug whereas, the corticosteroids is used to reverse any kind of airway obstruction.Ventilation should be provided if needed.
