Answer: Tattoo is one of the most attractive thing in today's time for many people and like always here are also some exceptions and these are the people who don't like tattoos. But it really takes a brave soul to get a tattoo done and bear the pain, people also think tattoos are really cool stuff which make them stand out from the rest. Many people are curious about how a tattoo is made, what happens to the dye once it is injected and why it does not wash or fade away. So here we are going to answer that question only.As there are various pigments present in the ink that is injected which depart certain color to give a beautiful look like mercury is used for giving red colour, cobalt for blue, lead for yellow,green or white,etc and these are pretty much permanent. So while making a tattoo the needle is injected in the second layer of the skin called the "Dermis". Now you would be confused why in the second layer why not the first , it is so because the first layer called the epidermis has to constantly shed and regenerate this is not the case with the second layer called the dermis layer as it is also called the "true skin" the reason being it regenerates very less frequently and is more pliable and elastic. So when the ink is injected it gets trapped in the dermis layer. It has a very huge population of blood vessel and nerves around it, the dye also flows to some very small distances through lymph nodes but does not spread all over, so due to the toughness of the dermis layer it becomes very hard to wash it off , and it becomes permanent though it fades off with age as the collagen level drops down, but the only way to remove it out is by burning the dermis with laser or undergoing surgery.
