Answer #1
  • This is a irregular EKG because R waves are not similar. Some are very far and some very near.
  • Rate: to calculate the rate we need to count the number of large boxes between 2 successive R waves and devide by 300. So, in this case there are 4 large boxes between 2 successive R waves. There for rate will be 300/4= 75 beats/minute
  • P wave present but irregular.
  • PRI means PR intervals. This is measured from the beginning of the P wave ( onsent of atrial depolarization) untill the beginning of the QRS complex ( onset of ventricular depolarization) . Normally duration is between 120 - 200 milliseconds. In this PR interval is normal.
  • QRS complex is combination of 3 of the graphical deflection . The electrical impulses .spreads through the ventricles and indicates ventricular depolarization.we need to see QRS complex is narrow or wide while cheaking EKG. In this case QRS complex is narrow.
  • Interpretation: as in this EKG looks irregular, narrow complex and heart rate is fluctuating between 2 RR waves so we can assupt that patient is having heart rate fluctuations. So we can also interpret as patient is having AF ( atrial fibrillation)
