Please discuss the difference between physician-centric care and patient-centric care and why you think it is important.
Patient-Centric care is the health care system whereby the physician, patient, and their families are involved in the treatment choices and give preferences to the patient's value, and culture. It enhances the knowledge, understanding of patient about their own condition and improves the quality of life of the patient. It increases patient satisfaction and positive outcomes. Physician-centric care is the storing and retrieving of patient health information, accurate diagnosing of patient condition, and treat them accordingly. Physician centric care improves physician clinical practice, ethical judgment, and improved work environment. It reduces burnout, anxiety, and depression on physicians.
Both physician-centric and patient-centric care are important for clinical practice but more effort to be put to increase patient-centered care. It promotes transparency in both types of care to achieve a positive outcome. Health care Organization should establish a patient-provider relationship to improve the satisfaction of both the provider and the patient. Hospital policies also support patient-centered care to achieve maximum care and benefits of patients.
