The anatomical or structural abnormalities present at birth and they may not be diagnosed until later in life, because long term effects of drug exposure may not be revealed for many years.
Teratogens are harmful drugs during the first trimester of pregnancy when major structure of the baby form during the time of most rapid cell division. It causes physical and cognitive damage like lower IQ scores for the children.
Teratogen substance causes congenital abnormality due to chemical agents that may not be apparent during birth if it is a long term drug effect.
