Obesity is a common cause of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. this obesity occurs when calorie intake is high which makes high energy expenditure and fat accumulation in muscle, liver cells and adipocytes that cause insulin resistance.
Pros and cons:
-A high carbohydrate diet increases the blood sugar level and causes high insulin in our body that leads to diabetes and other health issues.
-Low-fat diet help for weight loss and restrict the vitamins A, D, E and K in our body and cause some mental illness like depression, Parkinson's.
-moderate carbohydrate benefits from weight loss and help for insulin resistance, low carbohydrate leads to ketosis and some serious side effects.
-high protein diet helps for weight loss and reduce the total fat and cholesterol, high protein diet harm the kidney and it turns into glucose in our body and increases the risk of a heart attack.
lunch should be load up with vegetables, high fiber and whole grains, beans, and legumes. prefer lean protein foods and take healthy fats for the heart. focus on unprocessed foods, less sugar, salt, and trans fats. Avoid high glycemic index foods like sweets, potatoes, refined white grains, fruit juices, and saturated fats.
2, Older adults underweight and weight loss are important problems as it related to malnutrition. they are at higher risk for chronic disease and diabetes 1 type and other cognitive and functional problems. this is due to complete avoidance of high-energy and fatty foods, lack of food intake, physical inactivity, etc. it causes more underweight than obesity among older adults. weight manae=gment is an important approach among older adults to avoid complications. weight loss leads to loss of fat and fat-free mass. team-based care important for older adults for their lifestyle interventions to avoid weight loss. as a nurse motivate them for the dietary choice that high in fiber and protein to avoid weight loss.
