  • Higher the center of the gravity from the base of the body the least will be its stability.
  • Stable vehicle design will have wider base and low height of center of gravity from base.

TENDENCY OF TOPPLING OF A VEHICLE

1. Stable vehicle with wider base and low center of gravity

Toppling will only happen when the line of center of gravity will cross the base of the vehicle , but in this case we can see that the center of the gravity line is in the limits of base so will be stable.

STABLE VEHICLE

2. Unstable vehicle with narrow base and high center of gravity

Vehicle will more prone to toppling when the line of center of gravity will touch or exceed the base of the vehicle.In this case the line of center of gravity is exceeding the base , so it will topple.
