Already solved. Want to know if
I set this up correctly.
Answer
* Calculation of dose of lithium.
Formula = Desired dose / Dose in hand * Quantity.
Here
Desired dose (D) = 0.6 g.
Convert gm to mg for calculation.
1 gm = 1000 mg.
So
Desired dose(D) = 0.6 * 1000
= 600 mg ( equivalent to 16 mEq lithium)
Dose in hand (H) = 8 mEq ( equivalent to 300 mg lithium)
Quantity (Q) = 5 ml
As per formula
Dose of lithium = D/H *Q
= 16 / 8 * 5
= 2 * 5
= 10 mEq.
