1. # The need for Nursing Research are :-

- to maintain professionalism

- to have autonomy in nursing

- to have accountability

- to develop critical thinking ,problem solving skills

- to develop new techniques for nursing interventions

- to evaluate the effectiveness of new nursing techniques

- to develop a scientific body of knowledge

- to answer problems related to health delivery and care

# There are a number of ethical principles that should be taken into account when performing undergraduate and master's level dissertation research. At the core, these ethical principles stress the need to (a) do good and (b) do no harm. In practice, these ethical principles are :-

(a) obtain informed consent from potential research participants

(b) minimise the risk of harm to participants

(c) protect their anonymity and confidentiality

(d) avoid using deceptive practices

(e) give participants the right to withdraw from your research

These principles are important to understand before conducting a research not only for ethical reasons, but also practical ones, since a failure to meet such basic principles may lead to your research being

(a) criticised, potentially leading to a lower mark

(b) rejected by your supervisor or Ethics Committee,

(c) costing your valuable time.

# The purpose of my research paper means why you want to do the study and what you need to accomplish .

For example ,the purpose of the study is to explore and describe the effectiveness of kangaroo mother care on extremely low birth weight infants growth and development

2. # Quantitative research are those in which numbers are used to measure the variables such as characteristics ,concepts etc . It's importance are :-

More reliable and objective

Can use statistics to generalise a finding

Often reduces and restructures a complex problem to a limited number of variables

Looks at relationships between variables and can establish cause and effect in highly controlled circumstances

Tests theories or hypotheses

Assumes sample is representative of the population

Subjectivity of researcher in methodology is recognised less

Less detailed than qualitative data and may miss a desired response from the participant

# Basically ,there are four types of quantitative designs ,these are :-

- experimental

- descriptive

- quasi experimental

- correlational

Experimental design features :-

- experimental design the researcher has control over the research environment ,

- it has a effect and control group

- random sampling

- there is independent and dependent variable

- decrease in chances of bias

# Quantitative research is one in which quantitative data on variables are collected and analyzed. This type of research helps the nurses to identify the deep nature of realities, its system of relations, its dynamic structure. It can also determine the strength of association or correlation between variables, the generalization and objectification of the results through a sample that makes inference to a population. Also it helps the nurses to prove efficiency and effectiveness of nursing interventions .It is used by nurses for epidemiology projects, allowing the identification of the most vulnerable groups of the population, risk factors, etc.

3. # Qualitative research are those in which non -numerical data are collected and analysed . It's importance are :-

- it's needed to verify the results of quantitative research

- it helps to develop new product concepts

- provides rich data

- good for investigating complex or sensitive issues

- helps to explain phenomena and generate new ideas and theories to solve problems

- ecologically valid

# Types of qualitative research designs are :-

- Ethnography

- Phenomenology

- Grounded theory

- Case study

- Field research

- Action research

# Ethnographiy study are those in which a group of people's culture is studied and analyised to develop cultural awareness and sensitivity .

# Nurses are attracted to qualitative research because its methods and findings often emulate the art of nursing practice, where understanding the whole patient and knowing patients individual needs are given importance and implementation of the nursing interventions .

4.# Sampling is the process of selecting units ,individuals ,from the population to be studied . It importance are :-

- it helps to subset a larger population

- it helps every subject has equal chances of being selected

- characteristics of participants correspond to larger population

- avoids bias

# One sampling strategy used in quantitative research is randomization . Randomization means randomly selecting a sample,it provides equal chances to every subject .

# One sampling strategy I learned is the systemic sampling method in which every Kth factor is selected after the subjects are arranged in order .

Yes, researches helps to improve the nursing practice and for providing evidence based practice because what ever we do it should be based on some evidence as we are dealing with life and it's the most valuable thing in this world . Researches helps to establish new scientific knowledges which will be helpful in providing patient centered care and helps in early discharge and recovery of patient .

Hence ,this paper explains about the different aspects of conducting a research which includes the basic ethical principles , types of research - qualitative and quantitative ,it's importance , what is sampling why it's important and the most important- why research is important in nursing .
