Managers are the key to ethical business practice as they are the potential role models for all employees, customers, suppliers, etc. and also the endorsers of ethical policies. Due to changes in management practice, business process reengineering and the downsizing of western companies, many modern businesses have fewer managers today – yet each manager has more staff to control:

  1. How should organizations be ethical?
  2. Are employees attracted to ethical employers? Give reasons why you believe they may or may not be.
  3. List companies you would be proud to work for and those that you would be ashamed to be employed by or represent. What are the key features of each? What are the similarities and differences?

answer-

Business ethics has become very important part of every organization because it makes organization and its management more fair, legal and helps them to make right decisions.Organization can be ethical if they have code of ethics and strong ethical people at top position. I think code of ethics helps employees to know what they are expected to do and what they should not and ethical leaders helps them to lead by example. I say this because if top leaders are doing unethical things like taking bribe so employees will learn from them and do the same. also if organization able to provide ethics training to its employees then organization can be ethical.

yes, i believe that if an organization is ethical then employees are attracted to work for such employers because ethical employers make fair decisions. They are not biased to anyone which creates equity and it motivated employees. for example- if a manager has one employee friend and second employee is not friend but quite a performer so manager will give promotion to that employer who is performer not a friend. so who would not want to work in such company.

the companies which i would be proud for working for is TOMS shoe company, 3M, Starbucks while the company which i would be ashamed to work or represent are Volkswagen, wells Fargo,UBER.

Toms shoe company is best know for one for one model which donate one product on sale of that product so it saves and help lives of children. 3M is considered to be best ethical company and best place to work for. Volkswage is not because it was involved in quite scandals like diesel emission scandal. Wells Fargo forced employees to open as many accounts which leads to biggest scandal of history and Uber already involved in sexual and hostile work environment cases.

The similarities each of them is that they all are big companies but difference is that ethical companies have code of ethics and values its employees while other which i do not want to work for are surrounded with legal and ethical issues.

*hope this will help you. pls give this a upvote i would appreciate. thankx
