a)
CMOS INVERTER
The CMOS inverter circuit is shown below. When the input A=0 output Y=1 and when A=1 , Y=0
NOTE:: (PMOS turns ON when the input is 0 and turns OFF when the input is 1. NMOS turns ON when the input is 1 and turns OFF when the input is 0)
The transfer characteristics are labeled as asked.
The calculations are below
By seeing the graph it is easy to remember and identify. Don't go for the definitions as they will confuse you.
b)
Remember the following things while designing a CMOS design circuit
1) Blindly follow the Rule number 1 and 2 as mentioned in the image.
2)PMOS turns ON when the input is 0 and turns OFF when the input is 1. NMOS turns ON when the input is 1 and turns OFF when the input is 0.
3) If the expression doesn't contain a whole negation or inverse symbol place an extra inverter to the design.
4) Pull Up network consists only PMOS and Pull down network consists only NMOS.
5) The output should be in between the pull up and pull down networks.
The required design is shown below.
I hope the explanation satisfies you
If not i will improve myself
Thanks for the question
Have a nice day sir
