Discuss the hardware support required to support demand paging.
`Hey,
Note: Brother if you have any queries related the answer please do comment. I would be very happy to resolve all your queries.
For every memory access operation, the page table needs to be consulted to check whether the corresponding page is resident or not and whether the program has read or write privileges for accessing the page. These checks would have to be performed in hardware. A TLB could serve as a cache and improve the performance of the lookup operation.
Kindly revert for any queries
Thanks.

The virtual memory system using demand paging, also provides memory protection. · Explain clearly (and briefly) how is protection achieved. · Show how the paging system determines when a page reference is an illegal page or a page not currently in memory.
Which of the following about virtual memory is not true? A) Virtual memory needs paging hardware B)Virtual Memory uses storage device to extend the physical main memory C)The optimal replacement strategy is the most practical strategy D)Multiple process can share pages What should we do when having a page fault (Multiple answers)? A)Skip the machine instruction causing the page fault. B)Update the page table after loading the missing page C) Switch to a process that does not have page faults...
Early Intel processors (e.g., the 8086) did not provide hardware support for dual-mode operation (i.e., support for a separate user mode and kernel mode). As a result, most of the systems implemented on these processors did not support multi-user operation. List and explain one potential problem associated with supporting multi-user operation without hardware support for dual-mode operation. (This is the full question)
Consider the following page reference string: 5, 3,7,5, 3, 6, 1, 0,4,6,2,0,1,2,7,3,1,4,7,2 Assuming demand paging with three frames, how many page faults would occur for the following replacement algorithms!? LRU replacement FIFO replacement Optimal replacement
Discuss with examples the two broad divisions of Economics. You are required to support your explanations with examples.

Kooyman hardware sells 32 different types of drills. They had demand for 26 of the drills and satisfied 84 percent of the demand. Find the out-of-stock probability. ______% 3. Kooyman hardware sells 21 different types of drills. They had demand for all types of drills they sell, but only had...
Regarding demand paging, assume an average page fault service time = 25 ms and a memory access time of 100 ns (ms = milliseconds, 1/1000 sec; ns = nanoseconds, 1/1,000,000,000 sec). Calculate the effective access time in ns. Given a page fault rate of 1/1000, calculate the factor by which the computer would be slowed down over not incurring any page fault.
Assume demand paging with three frames. Consider the following page reference string: 7, 2, 3, 1, 2, 5, 3, 4, 6, 7, 7, 1 If OPT replacement is used, the number of page faults will be a. 8 b. 9 c. 10 d. 7 e.None of the above If LRU replacement is used, the number of page fault will be a. 8 b. 9 c. 10 d. 11 e. None of the above
