The purpose of the code of ethics is to provide guidance to people working in criminology.   The general responsibilities of people studying criminology are:   Keeping advanced knowledge about criminological issues.   To identify factors that restrict the development of their professional competence and integrity.   To seek proper training and experience to improve their professional competence and identifying and dealing with factors that restrict their professional integrity.   To refrain directly and indirectly laying the claim in areas of criminology where they do not have expertise.   To take all steps to ensure that their capabilities, qualifications & views are not misinterpreted by others.   To correct misinterpretations and adopt the highest standards in all their relationships with institutions or colleagues regardless of their status.   Keep up to date with ethical and methodological issues in the field.   To check the reliability of their sources of information.   It also includes researcher's responsibilities towards research participants: Researchers should recognize that they have responsibility to ensure physical, psychological and social well being of the person participating in research. They should strive to protect the rights of they study, their interest and privacy. They should be sympathetic to the constraints on organizations participating and not impose any burdens on them. They should be aware when researching through the internet on reliability of the source.   Researchers responsibility with sponsors:   Researchers should seek to maintain good relationships with all agencies so as to achieve the advancement of knowledge about criminological issues. They should seek to clarify earlier the respective obligations of funders and researchers in their institutions and encourage with written agreements where possible. They should seek to avoid contractual agreements which emphasise speed and economy expense of good quality research and shouls avoid restrictions on their freedom to disseminate research findings.   These are few elements of code of ethics in study of criminology.
