Answer #1

Part(a):-Output power with old transformer-

  P = 1000MW = 1000 x 106W = 10w

Output voltage-

Vout = 345KV = 345 x 103V = 3.45 x 10 V

Output power-

P= Vout lout

P — Iout = Volt

109 Lout = 3.45 x 105

lout = 2.899 x 103 A

Power loss in lines-

Ploss = IR

Ploss = (2.899 x 1032 x 2

Ploss = 1.68 x 10W

------------------------------------------

Part(b)-In this case-

Tout = Vout

\mathbf{I_{out}=\frac{10^9}{760\times 10^3}}

\mathbf{I_{out}=1.316\times 10^3W}

power loss in lines-

\mathbf{P=I_{out}^2R}

\mathbf{P=(1.316\times 10^3)^2\times 2}

Ploss 2 = 3.46 x 100W = 3.46MW
