Barnen effect is a psychological phenomenon.It is chracterised by a tendency of individuals to answer questions in a test more accurately which describe their traits perfectly when in reality the questions can be broadened down to everyone in the general population and are actually vague and general.

Example of this would be the statement,'when I m tired I likes unwind by doing an acitvity of my choice'.Here the language used especially the words like unwind and activity are abstract and vague as it can be interoreted in a variety of ways.But hen an individual reads this he/she might have a feeling that the question is especially designed for him/her.
