This question is for my communications class. I need to write a few paragraphs about self-disclosure in relationships in reference to this scene from the movie Mrs. Doubtfire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NPZ2emSDXY

I was going to talk about how the lack of self-disclosure contributed to the end of their marriage, and ironically, the abundance of self-disclosure is what allows Miranda to be such good friends with Mrs. Doubtfire. Miranda could not share things with Daniel due to his non-serious nature, even the things that bothered her about their relationship. But she shares so much with her nanny and eventually she starts to view the nanny as part of the family.

Am I on the right track?

I feel there is a disconnect in the approach that you are trying to follow. The reason being the fact that self disclosure will be more clear when you talk about people and the way their relationship got stronger as they disclosed themselves completely. It will also be better if you try to show case what got them together, how they worked their differences and created bonds that will be cherished for a lifetime. But they have to be the relationships that sound valid and seem to make sense. They also have to be the ones that will take us a step ahead and enable us to make sense in all that we do and say like brother sister, husband wife or two siblings.
