Using the picture as a reference, think and predict what will occur in the following scenarios.
They will either repel or attract each other.
2.3.1 you have a charged rod and a “pith ball” (little foam ball hanging from an insulator string) that is neutral. If you bring them together WITHOUT touching each other, what will happen?

2.3.2 you touch the “pith ball” to the charged rod. Then you separate them. If you bring them back together, what will happen?

2.3.1

If you bring the charged rod near to the pith ball (neutral),, then the pith ball start experiencing the repelsive force and the ball start moving away from the rod.

2.3.2

Once you touch the rod to the ball, then both having the similar nature of the charges, due to which both exert opposite force towards each other and start moving away from it.
